Introduction: The System They Claimed Nothing Of
Orbiting the blasted Forge World of Hypnoth, in the war-ravaged Vidar Sector, lies an anomaly the Imperium does not officially acknowledge: Vôrun Hold, a Kin stronghold neither part of the Greater Thurian League's core power nor fully independent of its reach.
Forged in secrecy, buried in silence, and expanding in shadow, the hold was founded in the aftermath of the Örgvayr Storm—a warp anomaly that flayed transit routes and separated Kindred from the Galactic Core. The surviving expedition, led by Kâhl Thôrmun Vôrrek, made planetfall in orbit, embedding their vessel, Örgvayr’s Echo, directly into the drifting asteroid ring above Hypnoth.
Where others saw a graveyard, they saw potential. They did not ask permission. They wrote a new ledger.
The Core Structure of Vôrun Hold
From within asteroid strata and the hulls of ancient debris, Vôrun Hold has grown organically—more organism than installation. The structure functions across multiple command and kin-caste purposes, each aligned with survival, salvage, and silent preparation.
1. The Command Quarters – The Echo's Spine
The heart of the station, located within the buried hull of Örgvayr’s Echo
Home to Kal Vôrun, the nascent ancestor core grown from refugee lineage
Living quarters for:
High Kâhl Thôrmun Vôrrek – High Kâhl and founder
Eidram Vor – Logi-savant, observer, archivist
Kâhl Drakmir – Field commander of Vôrun’s Wall
Môktar Vôrunsdottir – Strategic blade and heir in shaping
2. Vôrun’s Wall Arsenal
A fortified vault within the upper hold layers
Permanent barracks and arming sanctum for the 11 Einhyr Hearthguard of Vôrun’s Wall
Armory consecrated with the maxims: "We stand until the ledger closes."
Visitors (and invaders) see this quarter last.
3. The Forge Vault
Overseen by the caustic and brilliant Forge-Master Dravkarn
Maintenance zone for the Thunderkyn and core assets:
Vôrun’s Due and Throne of Dûm (Hekaton Land Fortresses)
A region of blazing heat, chattering Ironkin, and layered furnace protocols
4. The Cthonian Vaults
Deep-void chambers reserved for Cthonian Berserks and mining guilds
The Long Ledger is housed here—a physical manifestation of debt, duty, and fallen kin
Salvage routes marked by Thunderkyn and protected by rotating Hearthguard
5. Hernkyn Warrens
Peripheral launch and docking bays populated by Hernkyn Pioneers and Yaegirs
Home of Keln Veyd, the sarcastic, sharp-eyed scoutmaster
Trade posts are built to look like scrapyards; deception is tradition
6. Ironkin Slumber Bays
Rows of alcoves storing Steeljacks in folded silence
Vulkanite disintegrator units receive precise maintenance in nocturns
Occasionally co-inhabited by Ironkin engineers and Thunderkyn
7. The Crucible
A biogenesis vault now dormant
Believed to be the origin chamber of Môktar Vren
Access restricted; even Eidram records request authorization
Strategic Positioning in the Vidar Sector
Hypnoth lies within the Eastern Fringe, plagued by Necron reclamations and Tyranid spores. The Vidar Sector remains nominally under Imperial control, though resource wars between rogue Mechanicum enclaves and orbiting scavengers are constant.
Vôrun Hold does not advertise its presence. Its fleet—if it can be called that—is modest but enduring. Its wealth lies not in weapons, but in what others discard and they rebuild.
The Kin do not forget who forgets them.
Closing Reflection from Eidram Vor
“The ledger of Vôrun Hold is not one of glory, but of debt, salvage, and stubborn continuation. It stands not because it should—but because it did not break.”
— Eidram, Logic Threadkeeper of Vôrun Hold
