Unit Spotlight: Hekaton Land Fortress of Vôrun Hold

A Fortress Meant to Travel

Among the most feared and respected deployments of Vôrun Hold’s Kinhosts is Vôrun’s Due — a Hekaton Land Fortress whose treads never touch down without a purpose, and whose cannons never speak without cost. Forged during the earliest cycles of the Hold’s establishment and deployed during its first salvage conflicts in the Hypnoth sector, Vôrun’s Due has become more than war machine — it is precedent made steel.

Its name is not boastful, nor symbolic. It is literal.

To the Kin of Vôrun Hold, especially those under the stewardship of High Kâhl Thôrmun Vôrrek, debt is not emotional — it is mathematical. When ground is taken, when Kin are lost, when salvage is claimed or withheld — all must be recorded. And when reckoning is due, Vôrun’s Due is dispatched.

The Machine and the Maxim

“What is taken must be accounted for.”
— Inscribed above the primary conversion beamer

This single maxim, engraved deep into the armored flank of the vehicle, governs its every engagement. More than once, a raiding force — be it Drukhari, Heretic, or Hive-born — has made the mistake of claiming what they thought was unprotected ground, only to hear the charged hum of Vôrun’s Due’s conversion weapon split the sky.

When it arrives, it does not herald. There is no fanfare. It comes to close accounts.

It is not built for glory. It is built for weight.

Function on the Battlefield

Vôrun’s Due fulfills both deterrence and erasure roles in battlefield calculus:

  • Long-range devastation: Its conversion beamer has obliterated Talos constructs and shattered corrupted Dreadnought chassis in a single burst.

  • Ledger Reclamation: Often deployed to retake objectives already claimed by enemy forces, fulfilling the literal meaning of its name.

  • Final Arbitration: Thôrmun rarely deploys Vôrun’s Due at the start of an engagement. Instead, it rolls forth when the enemy believes the Kin have committed their full hand — only to be disabused.

Battle Honours and Campaign Use

  • The Cleanse of Nyx-Primaris: Reclaimed lost Kin salvage amidst Tyranid detritus. Beamer fire cracked chitinous beasts like ceramic.

  • Drogheda Tabletop League (Simulations): Destroyed multiple Drukhari Mandrake clusters. Later pulverized the wounded Azrael during the Dark Angels encounter — a fact quietly redacted from Imperial briefings.

  • Current Status: Active deployment. Primary crew unchanged since Hypnoth founding cycle. Weapon calibration overseen by Forge Master Dravkarn himself.

Tactical Legacy

To the Kin of Vôrun Hold, it is a war machine.
To their enemies, it is a closing book.
To the galaxy, it is proof: every act has cost.

And in time, Vôrun’s Due comes for it.
